Sherwood C. Ritz, 98, of Bern Twp., passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in his residence. He was the husband of Madeline (Price) Ritz, who died April 24, 2008. Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Benton B. and Bessie (Gehret) Ritz. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and receive the Bronze Star. Sherwood worked for Carpenter Technology, Reading, for twenty-nine years, retiring in 1980. He attended Glad Tidings Church, West Lawn. Sherwood loved hunting and fishing. Sherwood is survived by one son: David B. Ritz, Bern Twp.; one daughter: Joan E. (Ritz), wife of Henry Rakowiecki, Bern Twp.; and one grandson: Craig Rakowiecki. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters. Services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 pm from Glad Tidings Church, 1110 Snyder Road, West Lawn, PA 19609. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton. A viewing will be held in the church Wednesday 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm.
