Ruth M. Hoppes, 87, formerly of Dauberville and Wyomissing, passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2014 in Berks Heim where she resided since February. She was the wife of Walter A. Hoppes who died March 8, 1986. Born in Dauberville, she was the daughter of the late Robert R., Sr. and Emma I. (Smith) Seaman. Ruth worked as a folder for twenty-four years for the Hamburg Knitting Mill. She then worked for Mayfair Knitting Mill, Shoemakersville; and last worked at Linden Knitwear, Mohrsville, until she retired in 1990. Ruth was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Wyomissing; and a former member of Salem (Belleman's) Church, Centre Twp. Ruth enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth is survived by three daughters: Delores M. (Hoppes) Lewis, Ephrata; Shirley R. (Hoppes), wife of Charles E. Cheek, Richmond, Virginia; and Betty J. (Hoppes), wife of Edwin W. Slegowski, West Lawn; seven grandchildren: Matthew Cheek, Carl Achtert, Mandy Spillane, Jennifer Wade, Paul Slegowski, Grant Slegowski, and Melanie Lewis; eight great-grandchildren; one brother: James R. Seaman, Womelsdorf; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers: William and Robert Seaman. Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am from Salem (Belleman's) Church, 3540 Belleman's Church, Mohrsville. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp.
