Obituary

Russell J. Reinhart, 83, of Perry Twp., passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 in Columbia Cottage. He was the husband of Barbara F. (Gavaghan) Reinhart. They were married on March 30, 1963 and celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.

Born in Shartlesville, he was the son of the late Theodore and Clara (Stump) Reinhart. Russell was a 1959 graduate of Perry High School, where he excelled in sports - soccer, basketball and baseball. He was a U.S. Army veteran. While he was serving in Germany for two and a half years, he learned auto and maintenance repair. Russell worked for Carpenter Technology for thirty-four years, until his retirement. He was a life-long member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Perry Twp. Russell was also a member of Perry Twp. Game Association, NRA, and Shartlesville Fish and Game Association. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and watching college and professional sports. Russell was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed family vacations at the beach and hunting trips to Sullivan and Lycoming counties. He also enjoyed family picnics and clam bakes.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Donna L. (Reinhart) Kantner, wife of Scott P. Kantner, Tilden Twp.; Robert J. Reinhart, husband of April (Shrom) Reinhart, Tampa, Florida; and Michael J. Reinhart, Massachusetts; eight grandchildren: Zachary (Laura), Jonathan, Jourdan, Joelle (Zachary Coleman), Mason, Matthew, Noah and Joshua; and one great-granddaughter: Savannah. Russell is also survived by his brothers: Richard Reinhart (Connie); and Craig Reinhart (Vicky). He was predeceased by his brothers: Kenneth, Donald and Harold.

Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 354 Zion's Church Road, Shoemakersville, PA 19555. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc.
