Russell F. Flammer, 79, of Yoder Heights, Tilden Twp., passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014 in his residence. He was the husband of Helen M. (Dunkel) Flammer, who died May 5, 1985.
Born in Albany Twp., he was the son of the late Adam W. and Edna I. (Bailey) Flammer. Russell worked as a molder for forty-six years for Fairmount Foundry, Hamburg, until retiring in 1996. He was a member of Union Fire Company, No.1 and beneficial association, Hamburg. Russell enjoyed going to public sales, gardening, and being with his family. He was an all-around handy man; and enjoyed watching the Phillies.
Russell is survived by one son: Randy L. Flammer, husband of Debra L. (Rentschler) Flammer, Tilden Twp.; two step-sons: Gary K. Bohr, and his wife Mary; and Brian W. Bohr, and his wife LuAnn; and three step-daughters: Patricia A. (Bohr), wife of Robert Tice; Judith C. (Bohr), wife of Roy Hiester; all of Pine Grove; and Suzanne Bowser, in Pennsylvania. He is also survived by his granddaughter: Janine Halena Flammer; thirteen step-grandchildren; nineteen step-great-grandchildren; and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Russell is also survived by his companion: Shirley (Adams) Flammer, Edenburg. He was predeceased by eight brothers and three sisters.
Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Greenwich Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Thursday 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Friday 10:00 to 11:00 am.
