Roscoe S. Haag, 91, formerly of Centre Twp., passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2014 in Hearthstone at Maidencreek where he resided. He was the husband of Emily K. (Strausser) Haag, who died on January 4, 2014. Roscoe and Emily were married on November 25, 1944.
Born in Centre Twp., he was the son of the late Charles B. and Clara (Miller) Haag. Roscoe was a self-employed dairy farmer on the family farm in Centre Twp. The farm was in the family for atleast seven generations and continues to be farmed by one of Roscoe's grandsons.
Roscoe was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., where he was a former member of church council. He was a charter member of Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport; member of the former Centerport Grange; member of Ontelaunee Grange; and a former member of the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens.
Roscoe is survived by two sons: Dennis R. Haag, husband of Betty (Schrack) Haag, Tilden Twp.; and David A. Haag, husband of Mary (Moyer) Haag, Centre Twp.; one daughter: Linda Haag Fritz, wife of Robert Fritz, Murfreesboro, Tennessee; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister: Betty (Haag) Hepner, a resident of the Highlands. Roscoe was predeceased by two brothers: Oscar and Charles Haag; and four sisters: Luella Phillips, Edith Rubright, Ethel Hix, and Marie Kline.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 am from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Tuesday 9:30 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael's Church Memorial Fund, at the above address.
