Rodger D. Dyer, 59, of Upper Bern Twp., died Friday, October 7, 2011 in his residence. He was the fiance of Saundra K. Allen, with whom he resided. The couple shared twenty years together.
Born in Luray, Virginia, he was the son of the late Sylvester W. and Gladys M. (Viands) Dyer. Rodger enjoyed working in his workshop, and also enjoyed the outdoors, camping and boating. He was a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a member of the American Legion of Strausstown; and the Strausstown Rod and Gun Club.
Also surviving are three daughters: Jamie L., wife of John F. Ruff, Middletown, Delaware; Tracy D., wife of Mike Mullen, Clayton, Delaware; and Samantha L. McCormick, Allentown; and five grandchildren: John and Justin Ruff; Connor Mullen; Amber Dyer; and Jaziah Schroeder. Rodger is also survived by four sisters: Jean Magruder, Bushwood, MD; Mary Ann Crosswhite, Laurel, MD; Doris M. Ekelof, Silver Spring, MD; and Susie Howard, Baltimore, MD; one brother; Wimpy Dyer, Las Vegas, Nevada; and many nieces and nephews. Rodger shared a special bond and friendship with his brother-in-law: Larry Hunt, Shartlesville.
Services will be on Wednesday at 3:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. A viewing will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.
