Roberta Marie Adam, 81, of Windsor Twp., passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023 in Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where she had been a resident. She was the wife of the late Harry L. Adam, Jr., died February 12, 2013.
Born in Shartlesville, she was the daughter of the late Earl R. and Mae Marie (Wehr) Potteiger. She was a member of The Bridge Church. She graduated from Hamburg Area High School in 1960; later receiving a bachelor's degree in Art education from Kutztown University in 1964; and later receiving a master's degree in art education in the 1980's in Spain. She worked as an art teacher at North Penn School District, Lansdale; retiring in 1992. She received the honor of being nominated for Pennsylvania Teacher of the year in the 1980's. After retirement, she worked as a substitute teacher at King's Academy. She loved being a grandmother, traveling with her husband, overseas, to Florida, on cruises, but especially to Disney World. She and her husband often held card parties for friends to play cards together. Roberta and her husband Harry volunteered for Word of Life International Ministries, assisting with remodeling projects in Germany, Austria, and England, including remodeling a castle in Germany. Approximately six years ago, Roberta participated in the Kutztown University production of Fiddler on the Roof.
She is survived by a son: Nathan D. Dunleavy, husband of Tami L. (Garner) Shartlesville; two grandchildren: Raynee A. and Scottie N. Dunleavy. She is also survived by three brothers, and one sister. She was predeceased by a sister.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. Burial will follow in Fairview (Belleman's) Cemetery, Centre Twp. A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
