Robert P. Werley, 80, of Upper Bern Twp., passed away Monday, November 30, 2020 in his residence. He was the husband of Lucille A. (Strause) Werley. They were married April 5, 1958 and celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Born in Perry Twp., he was the son of the late Howard L. and Mae E. (Adams) Werley. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Robert worked as an anealer at Carpenter Technology for 31 years retiring in 1999. He also owned and operated Strause's Fruit Farm from 1982 to 2010. He enjoyed hunting, bird watching: especially woodpeckers and purple martins, and playing cards. He always loved going out with the Friday Night Gang, and spending time with the lights of his life: his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the granddogs. He was a member of Central Berks Fire Company and Relief Association, Shartlesville Fire Company and Relief Association, where he was a past president and treasurer; and also the Mt. Pleasant Fire Company. Robert was a charter member of Little Antlers Hunting Lodge, Lycoming County.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Barry L. Werley, husband of Donna R. (Huey), Upper Bern Twp., Steven S. Werley, husband of Susan J. (Hoppes), Tilden Twp.; a daughter: Diane R. (Werley) wife of Dennis J. Reeves, St. Paul, MN; four grandchildren: Shane companion of Lori, Ryan, Sabrina companion of Eddie, and Sierra companion of Chad; and three great-grandchildren: Hannah, Gabriella, and Alexander. He is also survived by a brother: Paul A. Werley, husband of Suzanne, Ontelaunee Twp.; three sisters: Dorothy I. (Werley) Schappell, wife of Richard, Tilden Twp., Mary Jane (Werley) Schlenker, wife of David, Shoemakersville, and Barbara A. (Werley) Bubbenmoyer, wife of Dennis, Shoemakersville; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother: George L. Werley.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.
