Robert L. Riegel, 80, of Centerport, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where he was for one week. He was the husband of June R. (Machemer) Riegel. They were married on June 12, 1954 and would have celebrated 57 years of marriage.

Born in Centre Twp., he was the son of the late Robert P. and Tama (Blatt) Riegel. Robert was a 1949 graduate of Ontelaunee Vocational School. He worked as a maintenance manager for Leesport Bank until retiring in 1996. He first worked for Baldwin Hardware, Reading. Robert was a member of Emmanuel Fellowship Church, Mohrsville. He was also a member of Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport. In his earlier years, Robert enjoyed gardening.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one son: Perry D., husband of Elaine M. (Lanza) Riegel, Centre Twp.; one daughter: Risa A. (Riegel), wife of Nick Marmontello, Jr., Douglassville; and two grandchildren: Daniel J. Marmontello; and Kelsey L. Riegel. Robert is also survived by a brother: Bruce D. Riegel, and his wife Florence, Tilden Twp., sister-in-law: Dolly Riegel, Reading; and brother-in-law: Richard J. Machemer, Centerport. He was predeceased by two brothers: Richard and Ralph Riegel.
Services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Main Street, Centerport. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.
