Richard C. "Dick" Oberly, 80, of Robeson Twp., died Thursday, December 31, 2015 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the wife of Myrtle M. (Enzman) Oberly, they were married May 4, 1985 and celebrated 30 years of marriage.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late George E. and Elizabeth C. (Middlestadt) Oberly. He was a US Navy Veteran, and was stationed in Germany patrolling the Rhine River. Dick worked as a truck driver for the former Bergmeyer Trucking, Reading, and later worked for Perotto Construction until his retirement in 1997. Dick was a member of Mohnton Rod and Gub Club, and was a life member of West Lawn Quoiting Club. Dick was an avid fisherman. He absolutely lived for fishing. He enjoyed going out on the first day of trout with his family, as well as numerous fishing trips to Delaware.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son: Thomas A. husband of Debra A. (Miccicke) Oberly, Laureldale; a daughter: Michelle L. "Misty" Oberly-Mitchell wife of David B. Mitchell, Yardley; two step-sons: Edward H. Maenza, Reading, and Jeffrey B. husband of Linda J. (Crosby) Maenza, Tilden Twp.; a step-daughter: Kathleen M. (Maenza) wife of David B. Dean, Mohnton; eleven grandchildren: Jessica, Olivia, Karisa wife of Michael, Ryan husband of Shayla, Stefanie wife of Jason, Stephanie wife of Jake, Sara, Drew husband of Candace, Chris, Steven, and Michael; and five great-grandchildren: Camryn, Kenzie, Olana, Maddox, Kayla, Braydon, and Maggie.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, January 6 at 11:00 am from Calvary Baptist Church, 510 Park Ave. Reading, PA 19611. A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church.
