Richard G. Kershner, 85, of Hamburg, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in his residence. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Heckman) Kershner. They were married June 6, 1953 and celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Born in Greenwich Twp., he was the son of the late Harry J. and Jennie (Seip) Kershner. He worked at Coca Cola, Hamburg for 32 years as a maintenance mechanic. Richard first worked at Birch Hill Foundry and Brown Trailers. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Richard was also a member of Union Fire Company, Hamburg; Loyal Order of Moose, Hamburg; Virginville Grange; and the Hamburg Game Association. Richard was a hard worker and enjoyed the time he spent with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Lynn G. Kershner, and his wife Lasalette, Morganville, NJ; Glenn R. Kershner, and his wife Deena, Tilden Twp.; JoAnn R. (Kershner), wife of Daniel DeLong, Tilden Twp.; Gerald A. Kershner, and his wife Leslie, Hamburg; and Lori M. (Kershner), wife of Edward Keighron, Rumson, NJ; nine grandchildren: Adam, Rachel, Isabel, Zane, Shara, Jennie, Emily, Ellyn, and Amanda; and six great-grandchildren: Anthony, Genaro, Angelo, Logan, Molly and Sophia. Richard is also survived by one brother: Norman Kershner, Tilden Twp.; and one sister: Anna (Kershner) Hemerly, Orwigsburg. He was predeceased by his siblings: Paul and Stanley Kershner; Esther Biehl, Effie Wagner, Mabel Himmelberger and Verna Heffner.
Services will be held on Monday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Sunday 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Monday 9:30 to 10:30 am. For online condolences, please visit, www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
