Rae M. Hix, 90, of Upper Bern Twp., died Tuesday, January 15, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Glenna E. (Spatz) Hix. Born in Upper Bern Twp., he was the son of the late John W. and Clara A. (Feick) Hix. Rae was a self-employed dairy farmer on the family farm in Upper Bern Twp. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Rae was proud of farming. He enjoyed going to the auction, cleaning up around the house and riding his four-wheeler. He was a member of the Shartlesville Fire Company; Shartlesville Lions Club; and the Shartlesville Grange #1512. Surviving in addition to his wife are seven sons: John M., husband of Donna (Cantore) Hix; Robert R., husband of Letecia (Cibina) Hix; Gerald W. Hix; Eugene L., husband of Debra (Stetzler) Hix, all of Upper Bern Twp.; Larry M. Hix; and Barry C. Hix, both of Missouri; and Terry L., husband of Kim (Boyer) Hix, Upper Tulpehocken Twp.; one daughter: Glenna F. (Hix), wife of Nevin Smith, Jr., Upper Bern Twp.; twenty grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother: Donald Hix, Middletown; and one sister: Pauline (Hix) Luckenbill, Centerport. Rae was predeceased by a daughter: Lorraine M. (Hix), wife of Glenn Reinert, died July 22, 2012; one granddaughter: Diane F. Smith; five brothers: Leroy, George, Richard, Harold, and Ralph Hix; and one sister: Lucille (Hix) Tryon. Services will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Saturday 9:30 to 11:00 am.
