Obituary

Philip R. Schmidt, 86, of Tilden Twp., and formerly of Lebanon, died Monday, November 11, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Annamarie L. (Loy) Schmidt. They were married on June 9, 1956 and celebrated 57 years of marriage. Born in Ringtown, he was the son of the late Philip A. and Ethel (Covany) Schmidt. Philip was a 1944 graduate of Pine Grove High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Philip first worked for Donovan Smith and Associates, Lancaster. He then owned and operated Eager Schmidt Design, Display and Exhibit Builders, New Holland. He was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church, Hamburg. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Pastor Erich L. Schmidt, husband of Pamela A. (Good) Schmidt, Tilden Twp., and with whom he resided; and Philip A. Schmidt, II, husband of Tresa (Silliban) Schmidt, Ocala, Florida; four grandsons; four granddaughters; two great-grandsons; and five great-granddaughters. Philip was predeceased by one brother: John E. Schmidt; and one sister: Ida G. (Schmidt) Moeckel. Services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 10:30 am from Faith Bible Baptist Church, 138 Maple Drive, Hamburg. Burial will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 9:30 to 10:30 am. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
