Patricia A. Griffiths Hume, 84, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026 in Laurel Point Senior Living, Reading. She was the wife of James C. Griffiths, who died April 15, 1982; and Lamar Hume, who died May 8, 1998.

Born in Pottsville, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Gehret) Zelusky. Pat graduated from Pottsville High School and received a bachelor's degree from Kutztown State Teachers College. She was an elementary school teacher for thirty-five years at Perry Elementary School of the Hamburg Area School District, retiring in 1998. Pat was a member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Tilden Twp., where she was a lector and eucharistic minister. She was on the kitchen crew at church and an important part of the success of Harvest Fest. Pat was a member of the Shoemakersville Recreation Board and the Children's Fair. She was also a cub scout leader. Pat was a member and officer of the Hamburg and Schuylkill Valley School Retirees. She was involved with the Perry PTA and the PTA shows for many years. Pat was very community minded and enjoyed volunteering. She enjoyed bingo and going to the beach and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.

Pat is survived by her children: Timothy J. Griffiths, husband of Andrea, Bluffton, South Carolina; and Deann L. (Griffiths) Herbert, companion of Paul Mosser, Shoemakersville; four grandsons: Joshua Herbert, husband of Larissa; Kyle Herbert, husband of Emma; Bryce Griffiths, fiance of Brooke Marston; and James Griffiths; and one great-granddaughter: Serenity Herbert. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Pat was predeceased by her siblings: Robert Zelusky, Stanley Zelusky, Francis Zelusky, Michael Zelusky, Peggy Zelusky, Kathryn Woll, Margaret Olexo, Marie Welgo and Elizabeth Callaghan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 10:00 am at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, 94 Walnut Street, Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport.
