P. Monroe Long, 84, of Mohrsville, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in his residence. His wife, Pauline L. (Epler) Long, died December 24, 1975.
Born in Mohrsville, he was the son of the late Peter M. and Lizzie A. (Berger) Long. Monroe was a self-employed dairy farmer in Mohrsville. He attended St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Monroe was a member of Union Fire Company, Hamburg, and beneficial association; Central Berks Fire Company, Mt. Pleasant Fire Company; Shartlesville Fire Company; and the Hamburg Game Association. He was also a member of the Daniel Boone Coin Club. Monroe enjoyed coin collecting; going to the casinos; feeding deer; and watching wildlife.
Monroe is survived by two sons: Alan R. Long, and his wife Heidi; and Dean M. Long, and his wife Wendy; both of Tilden Twp.; three grandchildren: Danielle, Nicole, and Angeline; and four great-grandchildren: Victoria, Austin, Logan and Barrett. He is also survived by his sister: Kathryn E. (Long) Miller, Lebanon; and his companion: Lorrie A. Wesner. Monroe was predeceased by two brothers: Cyrus and Horace Long; and three sisters: Mary M. (Long) Rhoads, Sarah S. (Long) Madeira; and Minnie E. (Long) Kadeck.
Services will be on Friday at 11:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Centerport. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Twp.
