Orinda L. Bernhart, 77, of Lynn Twp., Lehigh Co., passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. She was the wife of John H.L. Bernhart. Orinda and John met on March 3, 1963; followed by their first date on July 24, 1963. They became committed to each other on July 27, 1963 and were married on August 13, 1966.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Annie (Heil) Getz. Orinda was a 1965 graduate of Ephrata High School (early college admission, 1964). She then went on to attend Elizabethtown College, Millersville State University and Lehigh Carbon Community College. Orinda enjoyed crocheting, knitting and embroidery. Orinda's main focus was always being a mother. She and her husband were recognized as Adoptive Parents of the Year, Lehigh County in 2016.

Surviving in addition to her husband are her children: John, Johnetta, Oriana, Benjamin, Kimberly, Miranda, Michael, Scott, William, Robert and Helen; and nine grandchildren. Orinda and John cared for approximately 40 foster children and 30 dogs.
