Norman W. Balthaser, 87, of Brooksville, Florida and formerly of Hamburg and Auburn, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012 in his residence. He was the husband of Marcella (Shaw) Balthaser. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa R. (Long) Balthaser, died January 31, 2003.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Alice C. (Rothermel) Balthaser. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Norman worked as a truck driver for thirty-years for Glen-Gery Brick Corporation, Shoemakersville, until retiring in 1985. Prior to driving truck, Norman and his brother Albert went to door-to-door selling fruit and vegetables.
Norman was a member of Brooksville Wesleyan Church in Brooksville, Florida. He was also a member of Union Fire Company of Hamburg and beneficial association.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one son: Nelson C. Balthaser, and his wife Lyndel, Sinking Spring; three daughters: Barbara A. (Balthaser), wife of Michael O'Brien, Catawissa; Elaine A. Balthaser, Bern Twp.; and Susan M. (Balthaser), wife of Stanley Wilson, Hereford; six grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. There are also three step-children: Nancy, Janet and Kevin; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandson. Norman was predeceased by his brother: Albert Balthaser.
Services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will be in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp.
