Nelson D. Zook, 72, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at home
surrounded by his family and best friend.
Born May 5, 1951, in Pottstown, he was a son of the late Melvin and Emily (Phenneger) Zook. He is survived by his daughters, Valerie J. (Zook) Heckman and Pamela J. Zook both of Shoemakersville; 2 granddaughters Katy Heckman and Lily Wolfe; and 1 grandson Riley Doll. He is also survived by four brothers, Ronald Zook and wife Fay, of Milan; Roy Zook Sr. and wife Tiayese, Schuylkill Haven; Kelvin Zook and wife Pat, Birdsboro; and Joe Zook and wife Sue, Mifflintown; one sister, Martha Stroud and husband Bert, Cornwall; brother-in-law's, John Werner
and Chuck Filler; and sister-in-law, Charmaine Zook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death
by wife, Barbara J. (Stitzel) Zook and brothers, John "Jack" Zook, Kerry Zook, sister, Vera Werner, and
Foster Sisters, Carol Filler, Debra Leach and Mary Thompson. Nelson is also survived by many nieces,
nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by Best Friends and Brothers of the Heart,
Tom Price and Jerry Hall both of Pine Grove.
Nelson was retired having worked over 20 years at Quaker Maid Kitchens, Leesport; then PA Woodcraft,
Exeter; Quaker Maid Cabinets, Hamburg; Creation Cabinetry, Hamburg and Hamburg Area School
District. He enjoyed cabinet making/woodworking, hunting, canoeing, spending time outdoors and with
his grandchildren. Nelson also loved spending time with his extended family as well. He loved being a Father,
Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend to those in his life. He was a quiet man with a great sense of
humor that would shock others. Nelson continued to make jokes through his last conscious moments.
Nelson will be greatly missed by his daughters and grandchildren. Burial and Celebration of Life will be
private at the request of the family. In Lieu of Flowers, please send Memorial Contributions to your
favorite charity. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
