Myrtle V. Koch, 94, formerly of Hamburg, died Monday, January 6, 2014 in StoneRidge Towne Center, Myerstown. She was the wife of Charles H. Koch, died October 24, 2004.
Born in Port Carbon, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Mamie (Mowrey) Knerr. Myrtle worked for twenty-eight years as a sewing machine operator for Argo Knitting Mill, Auburn. She then worked as a cook for the Hamburg Center for five years; and last worked at Craftex Knitting Mill, Auburn, retiring in 1969. Myrtle attended The Bridge Church, Hamburg, where she was the oldest member. She was a member of Order of Eastern Star #424, Orwigsburg, where she was twice a Past Matron from 1977-1978 and 1981-1982. Myrtle was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post #3975 V.F.W., Auburn.
Myrtle is survived by one daughter: Dolores M. (Koch), wife of Harry W. Fisher, Myerstown; one son: Floyd L. Koch, and his wife Chris, Woodlands, Texas; six grandsons; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by eight sisters and three brothers.
Services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg. Burial will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 am, with Order of Eastern Star service at 10:30 am.
