Milton O. Shollenberger, "Nip", 90, of Tilden Twp., died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 5:15 pm in the Reading Hospital where he was a patient since May 26. He was the husband of Mildred N. (Mengel) Shollenberger. They were together for 63 years and marrried on November 1, 1952.
Born in Tilden Twp., he was the son of the late Warren Shollenberger and Elsie (Fink) Reppert. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Milton worked for 15 years for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, retiring in 1983. He first worked for Berks Foundry, West Hamburg, for many years. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Milton was a life member of Union Fire Company, Hamburg; a member of Wagner-Good Post #216 V.F.W., Hamburg; Behler-Hein Post #637 American Legion, Hamburg; Shartlesville Fire Company; Blue Mountain Wildlife; and the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens.
Surviving in addition to his wife is one son: Barry L., husband of Cathy L. (Kline) Shollenberger, Tilden Twp.; one daughter: Brenda K. (Shollenberger), wife of Joseph Gerner, Tilden Twp., three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Milton is also survived by a step-brother: Ralph E. Reppert, Windsor Twp.; and one step-sister: Ethel L. (Reppert), wife of Clark Hamm, New Tripoli. He was predeceased by a step-brother: James C. Reppert; and a step-sister: Mae A. (Reppert) Wagner.
Services will be on Wednesday at 1:00 pm from St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear) on Tuesday 7:00 to 9:00 pm and at the church Wednesday 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm.
