Mildred A. Dissinger, 95, formerly of Perry Twp., a resident at the Laurel Center, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021 in Laurel Center. She was the wife of the late Chester O. Dissinger, died January 20, 2001.
Born in Alsace Twp., she was the daughter of the late Edward N. and Blanche A. (Jacobdy) James. She was a member of St. John's (Gernant's) Church, Ontelaunee Twp. Mildred worked as a cook at the former Jo-Lyn Diner, later becoming Hess's Family Restaurant, Leesport for 29 years before retiring in 1996. She had served her church as a member of the consistory and secretary of the Sunday School. Her family and her faith were most important to her. She always enjoyed cooking, especially scrapple.
She is survived by a son: Jeffrey L Dissinger, husband of the late Shirley, Perry Twp; a daughter: Brenda A. (Dissinger) wife of Terry L. Schlenker, Perry Twp; a daughter in law: Nancy Dissinger; four grandchildren: Chad Schlenker, Bruce Dissinger, Jr., husband of Karen, Kristin Dissinger, and Mark Dissinger, husband of Amy; and seven great-grandchildren: Austin, Kaylee, Dylan, Brody, Emma, Chase, and Cailin. She is also survived by two sisters: Elizabeth (James) Lutz, a resident at Laurel Center, and Margie (James) Dissinger, Hamburg. She was predeceased by an infant daughter, June 1, 1953; a son: Bruce J. Dissinger, died October 31, 2020; two brothers: Harvey and Edward James; and three sisters: Alma (James) Behler, Dorothy (James) DeLong, and Alice (James) Snyder.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in St. John's (Gernant's) Cemetery, Ontelaunee Twp. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the funeral home.
