Michael A. Mohn, 66, of Hamburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 15, 2024 in Orwigsburg Center where he was a resident for one day. He is the son of the late Harry L. and Gloria A. (Burkhart) Mohn.

Mike worked as a machinist at ASH Pump after high school and was later employed by Vollmer Patterns of Hamburg as a machinist. He had the gift to work with fine tolerances and solve manufacturing processes. Mike retired from Signature Custom Cabinetry, Ephrata as a fine finish cabinet maker and assembler.

Mike was a Christian that believed in Jesus Christ and lived his life helping others. He had a strong connection with the outdoors and harmony with the universe. He was a life long hunter, shooter and trapper.

Mike's interest in Mountainman's trapping heritage and muzzleloader shooting led him to starting Mohn's Trading Post where he would set up at Rendezvous and Native American Pow Wows to sell furs, trade beads, tomahawks and period supplies. Through his path of life and traditional way of Native Americans he was welcome into many clan having the given name "Strong Bear".

For many years, Mike spent long hours in his best friend Steve's garage preparing winged sprint car number 07 for Saturday night races at Port Royal Speedway.

Mike is survived by a brother Brian Mohn, husband of Karen R. Mohn, Hamburg; sister-in-law Merle Mohn, Hamburg; and step-daughter Paige Zellner and her daughter Layla, Nevada. He is also survived by four nieces Beverly, Carolyn, Judy and Autumn; and one nephew Kurt. Mike was predeceased by his brother Timothy Mohn.

Mike wanted private services with a memorial picnic and get together of friends in the near future. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
