Melanie D. Kerr, 68, of Shoemakersville, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2022 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Beryl W. Piersol, Sr., and Dorothy C. (Blackwelder) Piersol. She graduated from Fleetwood High School in 1973. Melanie worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 28 years, retiring in 2019. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking. She always loved spending time with her family.

Surviving is a son: Phil H. Kerr, husband of Janelle J. (Trout), Shoemakersville; a daughter: Heather L. (Kerr) Chase, wife of Shaun D. Chase, Leesport; three grandchildren: Mikalee J. Kerr, Raegan L. Kerr, and Aubrey D.S. Chase; and a brother: Beryl "Skip" W. Piersol, Jr., Florida. She was predeceased by a half-brother: Gene Blackwelder.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 9, 2022 at 2:30 pm in Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. A viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 in the funeral home.
