IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mary L.
Ulrich
December 5, 1930 – December 24, 2023
Mary L. Ulrich, 93, of Ontelaunee Twp., passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 in her residence. She was the widow of the late Richard P. Ulrich, who passed away November 23, 1988. Mary and Richard were married on December 11, 1954 and had celebrated 34 years of marriage.
Born in Laureldale, she was the daughter of the late Elmer A., and Clara M. (Luppold) Hottenstein. Mary graduated from Muhlenberg High School. She was a member of St. John's (Gernant's) Church, Ontelaunee Twp. After graduating from Muhlenberg High School, Mary cooked for the General Cigar Co., during a postwar manpower shortage. She worked for many years baking at Schwambach's Diner, Leesport until retirement. After her retirement, she sold baked goods out of her home. Mary was known to have the best apple dumplings and chocolate cakes in Berks County, and she took great pride in working at Ulrich's Asparagus Farm for 17 years.
Mary served on her Muhlenberg High School class reunion committee, and also served as a Sunday School teacher at her church. She enjoyed gardening, playing rummikub, doing puzzles and crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Her favorite expression, "I know what to do!" will always be remembered by her family.
She is survived by two daughters: Eileen M. (Ulrich) Cirulli, wife of John M., Temple, and Marlene L. (Ulrich) Adams, wife of Russell, Ontelaunee Twp.; and a son: Mark R. Ulrich, Kutztown; three grandchildren: Joshua M. Cirulli, husband of Karyn L. (LaSota), Bethlehem, Maggie M. Adams, Leesport, and Michele M. Adams, Ontelaunee Twp.; and four great-grandchildren: Daniel, Brighton, John, and Rylee. She is also survived by her beloved canine companion, Bonnie. She was predeceased by a daughter: Amy L. Ulrich, wife of Guillermo Gonzalez, Costa Rica; a brother, E. Robert "Bob" Hottenstein; and a sister, Anna Mae Hottenstein.
