Mary R. (Brown) Karnes Brooks Martin, 90, of Hamburg, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2023 in her residence. She was the wife of Richard D. Martin. They were married in 1972.
Born in Pine Grove, she was the daughter of the late John and Edna (Jimmison) Brown. Mary worked at Myers Canning, and later Camsco, retiring after 25 years. In retirement, she enjoyed working at Pine Hills Antiques, Ephrata; and owned and operated Mary's Treasures, Shoemakersville, and set up at flea markets for 10 years.
She loved to set up at Leesport Market on Wednesdays. She always enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by two sons: Bruce Karnes, New Caney,TX, and Paul Karnes, Companion of Susanne Schaarschmidt, Ashland; three daughters: Diane (Karnes) Becker, Coal Twp., Donna (Karnes) Seltzer, wife of Gary Seltzer, Pottsville, and Lori (Brooks) Snyder, wife of Rick Snyder, Hamburg; a daughter in law: Marcina Karnes, Pine Grove; and a step-daughter: Ruth (Brooks) Ulrich, Fleetwood; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Mildred (Brown) Fisher, Reading, and Betty Brown, Florida; many nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog: Batman. She was predeceased by two sons: Charles and William Karnes; and two daughters: Beverly (Karnes) Ford, and Barbara (Karnes) Gaul.
