Mary I. Blackwell, 81, of Shoemakersville, died Friday, December 14, 2012 in St. Joseph Medical Center, shortly after arrival. She was the wife of Oliver P. "Lucky" Blackwell, who died July 28, 2005.
Born in Upper Bern Twp., she was the daughter of the late Elmer Seyfert and Lizzie (Berger) Burkey; and step-daughter of the late Robert Burkey. Mary was a graduate of Hamburg High School. She worked as a machine operator for thirty years for the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville. Mary and her husband also delivered the Reading Eagle for many years. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Mary loved her grandchildren. Her family was her life.
Mary is survived by two daughters: Karen E. (Blackwell), wife of David A. Hamm, Jr., and Kim S. (Blackwell), wife of Timothy P. Morrissey, both of Shoemakersville; four grandchildren: Timothy A. Kershner; Tammy L. Kershner, wife of Daniel E. Plummer; Kevin M. Morrissey, husband of Jessica; and Casey L. Morrissey; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons. She is also survived by two brothers: Paul Seyfert, Hamburg; and David Seyfert, Reading; and two sisters: Jane (Seyfert) Quick, Hamburg; and Anna (Seyfert) Wagner, Fleetwood. She was predeceased by a sister: Mabel (Seyfert) Epting.
Services will be on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.
