Obituary

Mary Ann Balthaser, 79, of Hamburg, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 in Manor Care, Sinking Spring. She was the wife of Carl W. Balthaser, who died June 9, 1989. Born in Penn Twp., she was the daughter of the late William F. and Florence (Schaeffer) Schlappich. She was a graduate of Penn-Bernville High School. Mary Ann worked as a dietary worker for twenty-five years for the Hamburg Center, retiring in 1996. She loved bingo and country music. Surviving is one son: Carl W. Balthaser, Jr., and his wife Sandra L. (Zeiber) Balthaser, Hamburg; one daughter: Nancy L. (Balthaser), wife of Randy G. Faust, Perry Twp.; four grandchildren: Christopher and Raquel Balthaser; and Wesley and Tabetha Faust; and ten grandchildren. Mary Ann was predeceased by four brothers: Charles, William, Herbert, and Luther Schlappich; and four sisters: Lillian Boyer, Mollie Lutz, Pauline Shade, and Mildred Fry. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Strausstown Cemetery. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Friday 9:30 to 11:00 am.
