Obituary

Mary C. Adams, 94, of Windsor Twp., passed away Thursday, May 29, 2014 in the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp. She was the wife of Walter J. Adam, who died May 25, 2000. Born in Wayne Twp., Schuylkill Co., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha (Reber) Strause. Mary and her husband operated the family farm in Windsor Twp. She was a member of Zion's Church, Perry Twp. Mary was a member of the Virginville Grange #1812 and the Hamburg Senior Citizens; and a thirty-five year member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. She was proud of her Pennsylvania Dutch heritage and would speak Dutch with her friends. Mary took great pride in her garden and truck patch and was noted for her vegetable and flower gardens. Mary enjoyed baking and making fasnachts and was a talented cook. You never left Mary's house empty-handed. She was a loving and giving person and was extremely well liked by those who knew her. Mary loved to travel to destinations such as Bermuda, Hawaii, New England and the Rose parade. Mary is survived by one son: Walter R. Adams, fiancé of Nancy F. (Leibensperger) Peters, Windsor Twp.; one daughter: Donna E. (Adams), wife of Barry C. Kline, Windsor Twp.; four grandchildren: Karen, Valerie, Julian, and Dean; and five great-grandchildren: Emerson, Ethan, Colby, Madison and Mason. She was predeceased by a granddaughter: Jennifer L. DeLong; a daughter-in-law: Charlotte B. (Bensinger) Adams; a sister: Grace Houck; and three brothers: James Strause, Ray Strause, and Lester Strause, who was killed in WWII in 1943. Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Twp. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Monday 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Tuesday 9:30 to 10:30 am.
