Marvin D. Byler, 89, of Centerport, died Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in St. Joseph Medical Center. He was the husband of Anna Mary (Yoder) Byler. They were married on October 25, 1947 and celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Born in Belleville, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Thomas and Ada (Glick) Byler. Marvin was a self-employed dairy farmer in Centre Township. After his retirement, he was a truck driver for Van-Mar Feeds, Leesport. He was a member of Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, Centre Twp., for fifty years, serving as an elder. He recently received an award as Elder Emeritus. Marvin had a "green thumb" and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons: Jeffrey A., husband of Kelly Byler, Bethel Twp.; Harold E. "Buddy" Kohl, Bethel Twp.; and Scott Edwin, husband of Vickie Byler, Lancaster; four daughters: Jane L. Frost, Centerport; Carol L., wife of Ken Massanari, Tucson, Arizona; Susan R., wife of Doug White, Quarryville; and Mary Jo, wife of Bill Doyle, Portsmouth, New Hampshire; twelve grandchildren: Joshua, Jared, Jenna, Rebekah, Krischelle, Jordan, Zachary, Billy, Marie, Hunter, Jaden, and Nicholas; and three great-grandchildren: Pacey, Remy, and Fox. Marvin is also survived by one brother: John M. Byler, Belleville.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 12:00 noon from Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, 693 Irish Creek Road, Mohrsville, PA 19541. A visitation with the family will be held in the church Saturday 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. A private family burial will take place in Viewpoint Cemetery, Centre Twp. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Macala's Miracle Fund, c/o Schuylkill Valley Bible Chapel, at the above address, in memory of Marvin D. Byler.
