Marlene M. Wallace, 79, of Perry Twp., died Friday, December 14, 2012 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Herbert G. Wallace, who died June 20, 2012. Born in Shoemakersville, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Geneva E. (DeLong) Waxwood. She first worked as a sewing machine operator for the Globe Underwear Company, Wright's Knitting Mill, and Jakro's. Marlene was a certified nurse's aide worked for the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., and in private duty care. She was a member of St. Luke's Church, Shoemakersville. Early on, Marlene was a Camp Fire Girl leader and a member of the PTA at Perry Elementary School. She was a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and the Shoemakersville Senior Citizens. Marlene enjoyed bingo, puzzles, going to casinos, reading Amish books, watching shows on the paranormal, sewing and cake decorating. Marlene is survived by five daughters: Beverly A., wife of R. Gary Bart, Melbourne, Florida; Melody J., wife of Dale A. Shade, Shoemakersville; Susan I., wife of Larry E. Metz, Shartlesville; Deanna A., wife of Dean J. Schrawder, Shoemakersville; and Julie L. Burkevage, Mohrsville. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Dean Shade, Valerie Schaeffer, Jason Schaeffer, Brock DeLong, and Austin Burkevage; two sisters: Mary Bashore, Bethel; and Wilma Leininger, Leesport; and a God son: James Leininger, Leesport. Marlene was predeceased by a son: Scott H. Wallace; a daughter: Kimberly Ann Wallace; a grandson: Troy Shade; and four sisters: Carrie Wenrich; Phyllis Bashore; Bernice Shirk; and Gladys Althouse. Services will be on Thursday at 11:00 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will be private in Frieden's Cemetery, Shartlesville.
