Mark E. Spatz, 41, of Centre Twp., died Sunday, May 6, 2012 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of Barry L. Spatz, Fredericksburg; and Patti L. Thomas, partner of Michelle Stump, Leesport. He was a 1989 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School and a graduate of Pennsylvania State University, receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Mark was a registered civil engineer working for Liberty Bell Motorsports Park, Douglassville; and Joe Hunt and Associates, Inc., New Milford. He was a member of Epler's United Church of Christ, Bern Twp. Mark was currently the treasurer and member of Central Berks Fire Company, Centerport. He was also a member and past president of Patriotic Order Sons of American Washington Camp #446, Centerport; and a member of A & W Rod and Gun Club. Mark was an avid hunter and enjoyed bicycling.
Surviving in addition to his parents is one sister: Laura Spatz Vayansky, Pittsburgh; maternal grandmother: D. Joan Thomas, Reading; and paternal grandmother: Ada H. Spatz, a guest at Berks Heim, Bern Twp. Mark is also survived by his aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather: David W. Thomas; and paternal grandfather: Lester P. Spatz.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am from Epler's United Church of Christ, 1151 W. Leesport Road, Leesport. Burial will follow in Epler's Cemetery.
