Marion I. Althouse Yeager, age 97, of Lewes, DE, formerly Hamburg, died on March 26, 2026. She was the wife of Neil G. Yeager who died on June 3, 1983.
Born in Centre Township on February 25, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Wilmer J. and Beulah Mae (Mohn) Althouse. She was a 1947 graduate of Hamburg High School and was employed by Berks County Intermediate Unit for 16 years, last working at Schuylkill Valley Middle School, retiring in June 1989. Prior to that she worked for the Department of the Navy in Yorktown, VA, and Washington D.C. She was a member of the Salem-Berne United Methodist Church where she held various offices. She taught Sunday School to children, teen, and adult classes throughout the years. She was also Treasurer of the Salem United Brethren Cemetery. She enjoyed bible study, quilting, genealogy, nurturing flowers in the garden and walking on the beach, especially during the 12 years she wintered in Florida in the Melbourne area.
She and her husband raised their family in Cheverly, MD. Surviving are two sons, Richard N. Yeager, Missouri City, TX and Steven D. Yeager and wife Debra Stamm Yeager of Rehoboth Beach, DE. Her grandchildren are Kenneth N. Yeager and wife Dana Saft, Leesport; Samuel S. Yeager and wife Melissa Ginsiorsky Yeager, of West Chester; Sarah M. Yeager Hernandez, wife of Brian Hernandez, Falls Church, VA amd Mitchell Yeager of Missouri City, TX. She was predeceased by grandson Warren Yeager of Missouri City, TX. Also survived by great-grandchildren Theo Yeager, Iris Yeager, Wesley Hernandez and Kaleb Yeager. She was predeceased by a brother, Paul W. Althouse, and a sister Carol A. Kalbach.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at Salem-Berne United Methodist Church, 292 Salem Church Road, Hamburg, on May 2, 2026 with visitation starting at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery right after the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salem-Berne United Methodist Church at the above address.
