Marie H. Kline, Centenarian



Marie H. Kline, 100, of Centerport, died Saturday, March 10, 2012 in St. Joseph Medical Center, Bern Twp., where she was a patient for one day. She was the wife of Norman H. Kline. They were married on February 18, 1933 and celebrated 79 years of marriage.

Born in Centerport, she was the daughter of the late Charles B. and Clara (Miller) Haag. Marie graduated from the eighth grade and received special recognition that honored her for never missing a day of school. Throughout her life, she helped her husband Norman on the family farm. Marie was a life-long member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp.; and a member of its Aid Society. She was a charter member of Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association; treasurer of Centerport Flower Club; member of the Central Berks Lions Club; member of the former Centerport Grange; and member of the former P.O. of A. Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her husband, Marie is survived by one daughter: Anna I. (Kline), wife of George W. Grauer, Centerport; three grandchildren: Kathleen L. Grauer, wife of Larry Clark, San Diego, California; Kenneth V., husband of Lori Grauer, Centre Twp.; and Kevin K., husband of Roberta Grauer, West Lawn; five great-grandchildren: William and Georgeanna Clark; Lauren Marie and Logan Grauer; and Gina Grauer; one brother: Roscoe Haag, Centre Twp.; and one sister: Betty (Haag) Hepner, Shoemakersville. Marie was predeceased by two brothers: Charles and Oscar Haag; and three sisters: Luella (Haag) Phillips; Ethel (Haag) Hix; and Edith (Haag) Rubright.

Services will be on Saturday, March 17, at 11:00 am from St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held in the church Saturday 9:00 to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Michael's Church, Memorial Fund, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526.
