Marian M. Mengel, 94, of Hamburg, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2026 in Geisinger St. Luke's Medical Center, Orwigsburg. She was the widow of the late Abner A. Kerchner, died August 1980; and the late Robert A. Mengel, died June 1991. She was also predeceased by her companion of 11 years, Donald Adams.
Born in Upper Bern Twp., she was the daughter of the late John H. and Mabel M. (Mengel) Hollenbach. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Marian had worked as a sewing machine operator at March Sportswear; Windsor Twp., retiring in April 1987. She later worked part time at Blue Mountain and Reading Railroad until 1996. She enjoyed traveling and had visited 6 continents, having never made it to Antartica. She went on 32 cruises; and loved going to casinos. She was a former secretary of school; and long time treasurer of the Shoey Senior Citizens. She was also a member of the Shoemakersville Fire Company.
She is survived by a son: WIlliam A. Kerchner, Hamburg; a daughter: Doris M. Kerchner; three granddaughters: Jessica, Katie, and Rachel; and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by a daughter in law: Diane M. (Zweizig) Kerchner. She was predeceased by a son: Donald L. Kerchner; and a sister: Gladys E. (Hollenbach) Lease.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, January 19, 2026 at 11:00 from St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street Hamburg, PA 19526. Burial will follow in Frieden's Cemetery, Lenhartsville. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to: St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, at the above address. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements.
