Mabel E. Rentschler, 94, of Centre Twp., passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 in Penn State Health St. Joseph. She was taken there from the Laurel Center, Tilden Twp., where she resided for three years. Mabel was the wife of Stanley K. Rentschler, who died February 2, 2000.
Born in Upper Bern Twp., she was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Pearl E. (Wagner) Boltz. She worked as a sewing machine operator for thirty-nine and a half years for Mayfair, Shoemakersville, until retiring in 1986. Mabel was a member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp. She was a member of Central Berks Fire Company and beneficial association, Centerport. Mabel enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening.
Mabel is survived by one son: Donald L. Rentschler, husband of Carolyn Rentschler, Upper Bern Twp.; one daughter: Betty J. (Rentschler), widow of Kenneth G. Fitterling, Centre Twp.; three grandsons: Tim Rentschler, Kerry Rentschler, and Donald Rentschler, Jr.; two step-grandchildren: Jerry Becker and Lora Boyer; five great-grandchildren: Kelsey, Morgan, Colton, Sabastian, and Chad; and one step-great-granddaughter: Cynthia. She is also survived by three brothers: Edwin Boltz, Auburn; Kenneth Boltz, and Leon Boltz, both of Centre Twp.; and two sisters: Arlene (Boltz) Smith, and Miriam (Boltz) Haas, both of Centre Twp. Mabel was predeceased by a grandson: Darrell Fitterling; two brothers: Walter and Leroy Boltz; and three sisters: Grace Phillips, Helen Heckman, and Florence Rothermel.
Services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp.
