Mabel P. Adams, 88, of Exeter Twp., died Friday, November 11, 2011 in Berkshire Center. Her husband, Charles J. Adams, Jr., died May 20, 2011.
Born in Hamburg, she was the daughter of the late Levi E. and Katie (Whitmoyer) Williamson. Mabel was a 1941 graduate of Hamburg High School. She first worked at Diener and Burkey Knitting Mills in Hamburg. She was very proud of the awards the knitting mills won during World War II. She then worked part-time in her husband's family's drycleaning business, Adams Dry Cleaners, in Reading. Mabel took great pride in providing a loving home for her husband, her son and his wife, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Mabel is survived by one son: Charles J. Adams, III, and his wife,Theresa M. (Kunkel) Adams, Exeter Twp.; two grandchildren: Emily Adams Korff, wife of Yanek Korff, Vienna, Virginia; and Kevin M. Adams, husband of Jennifer (Strange) Adams, Sinking Spring; and three great-grandchildren: Alanna and Vera Korff; and Bennett Adams. She is also survived by one brother: John H. Williamson, Hamburg; and several nieces and nephews; including her beloved niece: Evelyn (Yerger) Hunsicker, of Hamburg. Mabel was predeceased by five brothers: Clarence, Franklin, Harold, George and Norman Williamson; and three sisters: Esther Williamson; Mary (Williamson) Yerger; and Beatrice (Williamson) Rothermel.
Services will be held on Saturday, November 19, at 12:00 noon from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear). Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. A viewing will be held in the funeral home Saturday 11:00 am to 12:00 noon.
