Leon Allen Schappell, Jr., 61, of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late Leon A., Sr. and Shirley L. (Miller) Schappell. Leon attended Hamburg Area High School. He was a construction worker at Rubright Construction. Leon enjoyed hunting, going deer spotting, listening to country music and spending time with his grandchildren.

Leon is survived by his children: Erika K. (Schappell) Giraldi, wife of Jose Giraldi, Jr., Temple; and Leon A. Schappell, III, Fredericksburg; and four grandchildren: Miles and Mila Giraldi; and Mia and Greyson Schappell. He is also survived by two sisters: Lorraine Schappell and Brenda (Schappell) Faust; and his significant other: May Rhiel. Leon was predeceased by a sister: Sherryl Schappell. He will be missed by his faithful companion Jake.

A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11:00 am at St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. John's Lutheran Church, 99 Church Street, Hamburg, PA 19526.
