Lee S. Smith, 85, of Davenport, Florida, and formerly of Hamburg, died Monday, May 23, 2011 in his residence. His wife, Catherine L. (Gardner) Smith, died January 1993.
Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Nevin B. and May S. (Balthaser) Smith. He was a 1944 graduate of Hamburg High School and graduate from McCann's Business School. Lee owned and operated Smith's Men and Boy's Shop in Hamburg for 27 years. He then worked for Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida for 10 years, retiring in 2004. Lee was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hamburg, where he was a former choir member. He was the first president of the Hamburg Jaycees; a former member of the Hamburg Rotary Club; and Reading Shrine; and a past president of the Greater Hamburg Business Association.
Surviving is one daughter: Bonnie S. (Smith), wife of Ingemar H. Olsson, Davenport, Florida, and with whom he resided; one son: Timothy A. Smith, and his wife Zorana, Chicago, Illinois; and six grandchildren: Lee, Inga, Ingrid, Trevor, Mackenzie, and Brendan. Lee is also survived by one brother: Mark Smith, Reading; and three sisters: Lillian (Smith) Fleagle, Schuylkill Haven; Grace (Smith) Delong, a guest at Phoebe Berks, Wernersville; and Carol (Smith) Greenawalt, in Arizona. He was predeceased by a daughter: Kim L. Smith, died Nov. 1980.
Services from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 65 S. 4th Street, Hamburg (off street parking in rear) on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Fred A. Diehl officiating.
