Larry G. Schappell, Jr., 56, of Leesport, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021 in his residence. Born in Reading, he was the son of Hazel M.B. (Rothermel) Schappell, Leesport and the late Larry G. "Skip" Schappell, Sr. He graduated from Schuylkill Valley High School in 1982. Larry worked as a forklift operator for Brentwood Industries for over 20 years, last working in 2019. He loved his family, playing drums, and restoring his 1967 convertible Chevelle. He was a longtime member of the Leesport Jaycees. Surviving in addition to his mother are two sisters: Brenda S. (Schappell) wife of Brian A. Reber, Blandon, and Candy L. (Schappell), wife of David Krumanocker, Leesport; a brother: Heath A. Schappell, Leesport; a niece: Justine "Dusy" (Yeager) Kalous, Centerport; and two great-nieces: Juliana and Katie Kalous, both of Centerport. He was predeceased by a sister: Julia A. Schappell. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2021 at 12 noon from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens.
