Larry D. Karpenko, 67, of Tilden Twp., died Sunday, July 15, 2012 in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Donna J. (MacDevitt) Karpenko.

Born in Minot, North Dakota, he was the son of the late Fred and Anne (Moseanko) Karpenko. Larry graduated from Campion Academy in Colorado, Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ., and earned his Master's Degree from the University of New Jersey. Larry worked as a choral andvoice teacher from 1968-1971 at Sheyenne River Academy, Harvey, ND, and1971-1978 at Blue Mountain Academy, Hamburg, PA. Larry was a Real Estate Investor from 1978 until the present. Larry had a beautiful baritone voice and was involved in many choral organizations such as, Wheatland Choral, Lancaster,Berks Grand Opera, and Reading Choral Society. Larry was a member of Hamburg Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Hamburg, where he served as an elder.He was a member of the board of Blue Mountain Academy, Hamburg, and served as chairman of the Blue Mountain Seventh-Day Adventist Elementary School. He also enjoyed teaching Sabbath School at his church.

Surviving in addition to his wife is one daughter Julie A. (Karpenko) wife of Charles R. Reid, Tilden Twp.; and one son,Larry D. Karpenko II, husband of Tescha (Pragasam) Karpenko, Loma Linda, CA; and5 grandchildren: Samuel, Leah, and Luke Reid, Lauryn, and Andrew Karpenko; and one brother: Lyle F. husband of Janet (Laubach) Karpenko, McAlisterville, PA

Services will be on Friday at 11:00 am from Hamburg Community Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Tilden Twp. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Tilden Twp. A viewing will be held at the church Friday 9:30 to 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Blue Mountain Academy Music Fund, 2363 Mountain Rd.Hamburg, Pa 19526.
