Kim E. Hix, 61, of Upper Tulpehocken Twp., passed away in her residence on Monday, November 27, 2023. She was the wife of Terry L. Hix.

Born in Palmyra, she was the daughter of the late Kay (Betz) Reinert. Kim was a graduate of Hamburg Area High School. She worked as a veterinary technician at Berks Animal Hospital, Shoemakersville. Kim was a very caring mother, she poured all of her love into her children and did her best to support them throughout their lives. Her children's interests became her interests, which she inherited with great enthusiasm, though she never did fully understand the rules of baseball. She also loved gardening, traveling, Rock 'n' Roll and enjoyed a good movie or TV show. She took care of her mother, in her later years, as she battled dementia. Kim took great joy in spoiling her granddaughter. Her family was the light of her life, and she was the keystone of theirs.

Kim loved taking care of animals. She routinely took in the abused and neglected. She would nurse a sick animal until its final breath. She did this regularly throughout her life. To those that witnessed it, she taught an invaluable lesson, that it is OK to love with your whole heart, totally and completely, with no guarantee of love in return.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two children: Derrick C. Hix, husband of Mandy (Brennan) Hix; and Laura A. Hix; one granddaughter: Hannah Hix; and two step-granddaughters: Morgan and Carley Gallagher.

A celebration of Kim's life will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, PA 19533.
