Obituary

Kerry J. Cashman, 79, of Hamburg, passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at St. Luke's Geisinger Hospital, Orwigsburg. He was the husband of Debbie J. (Ripple) Cashman. They were married on October 18, 1980, and celebrated 46 years of marriage.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late James E. and Marian L. (Leiby) Cashman. Kerry was a 1965 graduate of Hamburg Area High School. Kerry was employed as a Production Control Manager for Elbeco, Reading, for 47 years, retiring in September 2016. He was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ, Hamburg. He was also formerly employed by Cabela's from 2017 to 2025.

Kerry was deeply devoted to Freemasonry and dedicated much of his life to serving the Masonic fraternity. His many years of involvement, leadership, and service earned him numerous honors and distinctions throughout Pennsylvania Freemasonry. He was a member of Vaux Lodge No. 406, F. & A.M., Hamburg, since May 1985, and served as Worshipful Master in 1993 and again in 2012. He served as Vice Principal of the School of Instruction from 1997 to 2021 and as a Trustee from 1998 to 2006. Kerry was also President of the Vaux Masonic Temple Association in 1999, 2000, and 2001, and served on its Board of Directors. Kerry was a member of Excelsior Royal Arch Chapter No. 237 since 1986, where he served as Most Excellent High Priest in 1992. He was a member of Reading Commandery since 1987, serving as Eminent Commander in 1994 and 1995. He was also a member of Creigh Council No. 16 since 1988, where he served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 2000 and Puissant District Deputy in 2006 and 2010. Kerry was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Reading, since 1989. He served as Thrice Potent Master of the Lodge of Perfection in 1999 and 2000. In 2006, he was coroneted a 33rd Degree Mason by the Supreme Council, one of the highest honors bestowed in Scottish Rite Freemasonry. His additional Masonic affiliations included the Knight Masons of Pennsylvania, Council No. 74, where he had been a member since 2000; Penn Priory, Knights of the York Cross of Honour (KYCH), Mechanicsburg, since 2001; and William Allen York Rite College No. 176, where he had been a member since 2003 and served as Deputy Governor. Kerry was also a member of the Council of Anointed Kings since 2002 and the Constantine Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, since 2004, where he served as Junior General and attained the distinction of Puissant Sovereign in 2016. He was a member of Keystone Frei Mauer Mark Lodge since 1993, serving as Worshipful Master in 2009 and as a Trustee. One of Kerry's most distinguished Masonic accomplishments was his service to the Grand Council of Royal and Select Master Masons of Pennsylvania. He was elected Right Puissant Grand Principal Conductor of the Work in April 2014, subsequently served as Right Puissant Deputy Grand Master in 2015, and attained the office of Most Puissant Grand Master of Pennsylvania in 2016.

Outside of his extensive Masonic involvement, Kerry was a member of the Perry Gun Club and the Shartlesville Rod and Gun Club, and was an avid gun and ammunition collector. He enjoyed fishing, collecting classic cars, and following Penn State football and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Debbie, is one daughter, Keryn J. Cashman, fiancée of John R. Kovach, Hamburg; one brother, Stephan J. "Steve" Cashman, Hamburg; and one sister, Sharon L. "Shari" (Cashman) Strausser, wife of Dennis L. Strausser, Hamburg.
