Kenneth J. Zimmerman, 80, of Hamburg, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Williamson) Zimmerman. They were married on October 10, 1974 and celebrated 38 years of marriage. Born in Mount Carmel, he was the son of the late Felix and H. Beulah (Knarr) Zimmerman. Ken was a 1951 graduate of Mt. Carmel High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War serving as a medical technician aboard the CVS 36. Ken first worked as a cookie and snack salesman. Ken was then the successful owner and operator of the former Jo-Lyn Diner in Leesport from 1973-1985, and various other restaurant enterprises. He was most recently a business partner of Alley Gators II in Gilbertsville. He was a member of Salem Evangelical Congregational Church, Windsor Twp. Ken was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Surviving in addition to his wife, are one son, Vaughn P. wife of Wendy (Engle) Zimmerman, Boyertown, two daughters Cheryl A. (Zimmerman) wife of Mark Goodwin, Gilbertsville, and Susan K. (Zimmerman) wife of Ed Mickletz, Pottstown, one step-son, Norman R. "Butch" Snyder, Jr., Muhlenberg, Twp., one step-daughter Kathy L. (Snyder) wife of Joseph DiSandro, Hamburg, 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Ken is also survived by his sister M. Barb (Zimmerman) wife of Nelson Umble, Carefree, Arizona. He was predeceased by two brothers Dr. Lamar Zimmerman, and William Zimmerman. Services will be held Monday March 25 at 11 A.M. from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport, Pa 19533. Burial will follow in Berks County Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6:00-8:00 P.M. AT WESLEYAN CHRISTIAN CHURCH 1301 HILLTOP RD. POTTSTOWN, PA 19464 and on Monday in the funeral home from 10:00-11:00 A.M.
