Beissel
September 5, 1931 – November 2, 2022
Kenneth R. Beissel, Sr., 91, of Bern Twp., passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022 in his residence. He was the husband of the late Faye E. (Green) Beissel, passed away March 27, 2021.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late William Beissel, Sr., and Mabel (Lascomb) Beissel. He was a member of Bern Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a US Army Veteran during the Korean War and received the rank of Corporal; and had previously served 6 years in the PA National Guard. He worked as a welder for DANA Corporation for 43 years, retiring in 1994. Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, visiting casinos, The Club at Mt. Pleasant Fire Company, and bowling. He always attended family sporting events and activities. He was a member of Senior Berners at church, Mt. Pleasant Fire Co., and DANA Retirees. Kenneth was always the center of attention when in a room of people, he was a very friendly person.
Kenneth is survived by three sons: James M. Beissel, husband of Sherry A. (Weiss), Bern Twp., Kenneth R. Beissel, Jr., husband of Debbie L. (Harle), Bern Twp., and Jeff L. Beissel, husband of Rose M. (Heck), Wyomissing; ten grandchildren: Chris R. Beissel, husband of Katie, Jordan M. Beissel, husband of Sarah, Matthew H. Scheidt, Katie L. Scheidt, Matt C. Beissel, husband of Beth, Angela M. (Stoudt) Galczynski, wife of Marc, Alex L. Beissel, Austin J. "AJ" Beissel, Nina Valentine, and Katelyn Zimmerman; and 10 great-grandchildren: Reagan, Vivienne, Harper, Delaney, Evan, Jakey, Ali, Anthony, Tristan, and Dominic. He is also survived by a brother: William Beissel, Jr., and two sisters: Sarah (Beissel) Yoder, and Janice (Beissel) Hoffert. He was predeceased by a son: Keith A. Beissel, husband of Brenda, in November 2021; and his siblings: Robert, Ronald, Paul Beissel, and Florence (Beissel) Reinhart.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at 7:00 pm from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street Leesport, PA 19533. Military Honors will follow the service. A visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm in the funeral home.
