Obituary

Kenneth R. Grim, 95, of Hamburg, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Dorothy L. (Bailey) Grim. They were married on October 5, 1946 and celebrated sixty-seven years of marriage. Born in Hamburg, he was the son of the late Frederick and Florence (Hain) Grim. He was a graduate of Hamburg High School. Kenneth was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a radio operator for General Patton; and served in the 4th Armored Division. He also received the Bronze Star. Kenneth began working with his father at Grim's Music House; and then became the owner and operator of Grim's TV in Hamburg. He enjoyed working on old radios and building model airplanes. Kenneth was an avid bird watcher. He and his wife enjoyed annual trips to Point Pelee in Ontario. Kenneth and his wife Dorothy were volunteers at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary for over twenty years; and in 2011, they were both recognized for their volunteer service. He was a member of Union Fire Company #1 and beneficial association, Hamburg. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons: Brian K. Grim, husband of Beverly J. (Correll) Grim, Lenhartsville; and Kerry A. Grim, husband of Susan N. (Nothstein) Grim, Hamburg; and three grandchildren: Stephanie, Ellen and Kevin Grim. Services will be held at the convenience of the family from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Hamburg.
