IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Keith B.
Kochan
February 3, 1966 – October 31, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of Keith B. Kochan, 59, Windsor Twp., announce his passing on Friday, October 31, 2025. He was the husband of Kathleen A. (Shemanski) Kochan and father of Katherine E. Kochan, Philadelphia. Keith and Kathleen were married on June 12, 1993 and celebrated thirty-two years of marriage.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida, he was the son of Michael and Marilyn (Tibbits) Kochan, Zephyrhills, Florida. Upon his graduation from high school, Keith followed his higher calling and enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He was a proud veteran, serving as an expert sharpshooter stationed out of Cape May, New Jersey on the US Coast Guard Cutter Alert. Keith served many years in international waters, protecting the United States from illegal drug trafficking and performing water distress rescues. He was also deployed on a crucial Search & Rescue mission following the explosion of Space Shuttle Challenger. Keith always remained proud of his 8 years dedicated to his country preceding his honorable discharge in 1993.
Keith was a simple man and a committed worker, reflected by his 30+ years of employment with Micro-Clean/Steris. On his time off, he enjoyed spending time with his family playing competitive board games, trying new restaurants, and leisurely Saturday afternoon football games cheering on the West Virginia Mountaineers and Penn State Nittany Lions. Keith loved to experiment in the kitchen, making weekly Sunday dinners for his family. He especially loved culinary ventures based on southern style cooking and his homemade lasagna.
Yearly vacations with his family were a great pleasure for Keith. His treasured memories will always be at the Outer Banks in the Carolinas, and St. Augustine, Florida.
Keith also enjoyed volunteering on field trips with his daughter to historical sights, such as Gettysburg and Washington, D.C. He took pride in volunteering locally as well, acting as head coach for T-ball teams and as a teacher's aide at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. He spent a great deal of time giving back and providing his help to anyone in need.
Keith will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and his loving canine companions, Finn and Kona.
Surviving in addition to his wife and daughter are his parents: Michael and Marilyn (Tibbits) Kochan, Zephyrhills, Florida. He is also survived by a brother: Keven Kochan, husband of Tami, Washington State; a sister: Kimberly Buscomb, wife of Scott, North Carolina; mother-in-law: Irene Shemanski, Tunkhannock; uncle and aunt: Mr. and Mrs. Henry Shemanski, Forty-Fort; sister-in-laws: Karen Killian, wife of Brad, Tunkhannock; and Deborah Garand, wife of Frank, Seaford, Delaware; and nephews: Jason Kochan and Jeremy Kochan, Shane Stark, Brennan Stark, Zac Garand, husband of Kelly, and Zane Garand.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., Hamburg is in charge of arrangements. For online condolences, please visit, http://www.leibenspergerfuneralhomes.com.
