Karolyn J. Brown, 82, of Hamburg, passed away Friday, March 21, 2025 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. Karolyn lived life to the fullest and was whole-heartedly devoted to the family and friends whom she cherished. An avid traveler and Broadway enthusiast, she thoroughly enjoyed those times surrounded by the people she loved. Spending time talking, sharing meals and playing games on the porch of her cabin at Sweet Arrow Lake in Pine Grove were among her favorite pastimes. She will be deeply missed by the many who loved her and remembered for her enduring love, unbreakable strength, unwavering care, strong will, infectious smile and laugh, festive holiday decorations, exceptional cooking, insightful wisdom and overflowing generosity.
Born in Pottsville and raised in Schuylkill Haven, she was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Margaret (Peggy) E. (Hurst) Stine, beloved proprietors of Stine's Pharmacy. She graduated from Schuylkill Haven High School and later the Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing. She was a Registered Nurse and began her career in the labor and delivery unit of Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Pottsville. She worked most recently before her retirement at Northern Berks Family Medicine in Hamburg, and she also spent over 15 years working at the Caron Foundation Addiction Treatment and Rehab Center in Wernersville.
Karolyn will be dearly missed by her five loving children: Cynthia L. (Hand) Campbell, wife of Gregory, Potomac, MD; Robert A. Hand, husband of Erika Schlager, Falls Church, VA; Kimberly A. (Hand) Fleming, wife of Robert, Bruceton Mills, WV; Rebekkah L. (Brown) Kojku, wife of Demir, Hamburg; and Jesse W. Brown, II, Hamburg. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to her eleven grandchildren: Jakob Hand, Emese Hand, Ryan Kasprowicz, Christopher Campbell, Kyle Campbell, Alec Kasprowicz, Brenden Brown, Owen Brown, Luke Brown, Adrian Kojku, and Aleksander Kojku; and she was delighted to recently welcome her first great-grandchild: Austin Kasprowicz.
