Kareen E. Smith, 88, of Shoemakersville, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 in Berks Heim. She was the wife of Wiliam F. Smith, who died May 15, 2002.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Wirt D. and Kathryn E. (Wixon) Brown. Kareen was part owner of Rac's Roastbeef, Pottstown. She also worked at the Jo-Lyn Diner, Schmeck's Restaurant, and in the kitchen at Reading Area Community College. She last worked as a bus driver for Eschelman. Kareen was a member of the Leesport Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Rebekahs and Leesport Ambulance.

Kareen is survived by her children: Penny A. (Smith) Spatz, wife of William M. Spatz, Jr., Centre Twp.; and William F. Smith, II, husband of Jessie Smith, Hamburg; six grandchildren: Christopher, Amy, Willie, Amanda, Anthony and Michael; and six great-grandchildren: McKenzie, Kaylee, Dylan, Chase, Claire and Gage. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Kareen was predeceased by her siblings: Elsie Ann Boone and Kerry D. Brown.
