June Marquerite Kochan, 83, of Reading, passed away on December 23, 2023.

She was born on June 23, 1940 and was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Gilbert of Leesport.

June is survived by her husband of sixty-four years, Jack Kochan; two sons: Jeffrey, Centennial, CO; and Jonathan, husband of Minette, San Francisco, CA; one granddaughter: Marisol, Centennial, CO; her sister: Ruth Keeney, Douglassville; and several nieces and nephews.

June worked for many years at Penn State, Berks Campus, and was a familiar face to numerous students who worked with her over the years. Later she worked for Glen-Gery Corporation, until her retirement.

June loved meeting new people and making new friends. She cherished several lifelong friendships that dated back to elementary school. She was passionate about horticulture and cared meticulously for her plants and flowers. June adored little babies and loved holding them in her arms.

Friends and family have remembered her as a lively personality who loved teasing and joking with friends. They also recall her kindness and how welcome she made them feel around her.

Services will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at 10:30 am from Leibensperger Funeral Homes, Inc., 223 Peach Street, Leesport. Burial will follow in Bern Cemetery.
