Julia M. White, "Judy", 96, formerly of West Reading and Shillington, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 in Berks Heim. She was the wife of Denton E. White, who died February 17, 2008.
Born in Ardmore, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Catherine (Duff) Johnson. Judy worked for thirty years for the Reading Hospital as a telephone operator, retiring in 1987. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Judy enjoyed volunteering at the Reading Hospital and the Soup Kitchen, playing cards with her friends, knitting, and arts and crafts. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Judy liked to have fun and was known for her "toast."
Judy is survived by her three children: Ruth Ann (White), wife of Dennis "Max" Parr, Shillington; K. Barbara (White), wife of Jeffrey Wallgren, Jacksonville, Oregon; and Robert D. White, companion of Cheryl Harting, Oley; eight grandchildren: Christopher, Michael, Julie, Shannon, Joseph, Kimberly, Katelyn and Kristin; and nine great-grandchildren: Ava, Lily, Melaina, Jacob, Morgan, Jacob, Emma, Anna and Gwenivere. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Judy was predeceased by her six sisters: Mary, Helen, Rose, Kitty, Regina and Nan; and one brother: Bernie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 am from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 740 Cherry Street, West Reading. A viewing will be held in the church Monday 9:00 to 10:30 am. Burial will be private in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Special Olympics Pennsylvania, 2570 Boulevard of the Generals, Suite 124, Norristown, PA 19403.
